Nothing changes if nothing changes
an end-of-summer check-in
I’ve been sitting with this very obvious thought lately (nothing changes if nothing changes)
We spend a lot of time thinking about how we want our lives to feel. Slower mornings, less time on our phones, more time outside, more reading, more making, less consuming. We can know exactly what we’re craving and still move through our days in almost exactly the same way.
There’s a gap between knowing how you want to live and actually living that way on a random Tuesday. You can’t really think your way across it. At some point, something has to change. Maybe you leave your phone inside while you drink your coffee, take ten minutes outside sitting in silence (some would call this meditation), read the book instead of opening the app. Stop rushing through the one part of your day that doesn’t actually need to be rushed. Stop multi-tasking.
Summer is coming to an end, and it feels like a good time to notice what’s working, what isn’t, and what might be worth doing a little differently.
Not a new season resolution... Just a lil check-in.
Grab your journal or notes app babes:
When did I feel most like myself this summer?
What have I been saying I want to change but haven't actually changed?
What part of my day consistently doesn't feel good?
If I slowed my pace during just one part of my day, what would that look like?
What have I stopped doing that I used to love?
What am I doing more often than I actually want to?
Can I de-clutter my space?
What have I been wanting more of lately?
What am I consuming too much of?? Things, content, opinions, noise?
What small thing makes my day noticeably better?
If I changed absolutely nothing about the way I'm living right now, how would I feel six months from now?
Then choose:
One thing I'm going to stop doing.
One thing that's working that I want to keep doing.
One thing I've been saying I want to do that I'm just going to start doing.
Whatever it is, just actually try it.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Love you bye <3
